Crappie are starting to spawn here in Oklahoma. They were 4-6 feet deep 2 weeks ago and this past weekend they were 2-4 feet deep. Some of the larger crappie have moved in as well. It appears as though the sands bass are ending their runs in the local waters as we have not caught near as many much less any that have a real size to speak of.

Think Predators Aren't a Problem, Think Again
While traveling to a fishing hole this weekend, I noticed something bright white just off the trail. As we got closer, I could tell it was sun-bleached bone. It was the rear section of a spine. As we looked it over, there was still some tail hair on it they confirmed it was a whitetail deer. There were slight marks on some of the vertebrae lending to the notion that it was eaten by predators. The spine was rather small leading us to believe it was no older than a year and a half. This area is open to hunting, but only with a bow which makes predator hunting extremely challenging. Given the evidence, we will be attempting predator hunting this coming season with our bows to alleviate some of the pressure on the deer heard.
